Chaotic office to Library haven

When you decide you don't want an office just off the entry, what do you do? Why not a lovely little library...

Something I did for a friend a while ago, while on vacation, see I told you I did that. More to come...

who "wood" have thought?

I walked into an army surplus store one day with my husband, I know you are wondering where I am going with that. Well, the idea came to me when I saw these ammo boxes they had, to mount them and use them just like in this photo. I think my family would think I have lost it. But I love to use things for more then just it's purpose. And another idea came to me, that maybe I could even build our own tv stand. They offer great storage for just about anything. Though I am sure you could use any kind of scrap lumber. I love the idea of the ammo boxes because we enjoy shooting and the distressed look they offer. I love hunting for the unseen treausres, happy hunting...

Neat Tins

I don't know why but I thought of the word Neat when I saw these cool tins. I love anything fun and functional. These are.

You can find these at Ikea.

Lovely Storage

I sometimes think that Pottery Barn was invented just for me. I love their storage ideas, I also love that they are so stylish. Who said that being organized has to be all about hiding your clutter? Not me, that's for sure. I like to find ways to be organized and still have a sense of style and design.

Progressive Spring Cleaning Party

I had this fun thought the other day as I was up on my ladder cleaning the months of dust from our fan, yuk...

What if we could all get our friends together and plan a Progressive Party with a twist, a cleaning party. You go to one house and dust, and have appetizers, the next house you clean windows and make Margaritas(non-alcoholic of course). At another house you could clear out some clutter, and have some yummy spring salad. And at the last house you gather for a nice big barbeque with all your friends and family.
The thing is to plan and talk to your friends and see what they really need help with and make that list count. Spring cleaning doesn't have to be such a chore. I hope that if anyone does try this idea out you will let me know how it goes. I would love to hear from you.

Cutting down on clutter

5 Key Questions to Cut Down on Clutter

We all rationalize keeping items for a future that doesn't arrive. Here are some key excuses that simply don't cut it. If you hear yourself using any of these lines, put yourself on high clutter alert. Print out these questions, frame them and keep them accessible to keep clutter at bay.

1. I’m going to fix it someday
2. I need it just in case
3. I’ll sell it in a garage sale or online
4. This will be worth something someday
5. Someone else may be able to use it
By creating a wallet sized card with 5 Questions to Consider Before You Buy - you can prevent yourself from acquiring unnecessary items that have a high potential to turn into clutter. When shopping, use these questions to guide your purchases:

1. Do I really need this?
2. Do I have somewhere to store it?
3. Do I already have something like this?
4. Am I buying it just because it’s on sale?
5. Is it something I've been interested in for a long time, or am I buying
on impulse?

I like to think that I am perfect at this concept of being organized, but there are days where it just doesn't work out that way. So I rely on some old friends I have come to love and despise at the same time, lol...
Because they seem to have their act together unlike myself. But I have to admit they have provided me with much knowledge and insight into my imperfections. So just know that as we get to know each other that I am far from perfect, but I try to do my best and I like to share...
